San Miguel County is located in southwestern Colorado and reaches the Utah state border line.
It is a relatively low populated area (population 7,100 according to the 2000 U.S. Census)
in the San Juan mountain region. Telluride is the county seat and only incorporated town in the county.
San Miguel County is best known for it's stunning mountain scenery and mining history, and the town of
Telluride is a popular destination for its world-class ski resorts.
